Cars in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the public for details.

A senior official stated the attack made him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
