A person who contaminated sweets with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offenses against two young males both nine and ten years old.

The defendant was taken into custody after eight children and a grown-up became sick at the location in mid-summer.

The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.

Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was remanded in custody before a further hearing on late November.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.

She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he operated.

The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were settling down and request they to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.

She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in July 2025.

Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.

"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."

The legal counsel explained objects including lubricant, ointment and syringes were located, and his family member alerted the police about his concerns.

She explained the man went on to engage in the "treat game" with six children that time - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.

"The police had not arrived by that time," she stated further.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.

The prosecutor said the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the family member notified the law enforcement a second time.

She explained Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five children.
